Job Description:

An opportunity for a DOA Management & Expertise Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid).

The selected candidate will join the Airworthiness & Product Integrity / DOA Management & Expertise Team, which is responsible for obtaining, maintaining, and managing all Design Organisation Approvals (DOA) across Airbus Defence and Space. The team acts as the primary interface with international Airworthiness Authorities, ensuring that the Design Assurance System, manuals, procedures, and tools continuously comply with all regulatory requirements while leading DOA expertise across transnational programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main tasks of the jobholder will be:

  • Manage & Maintain DOA Framework: Lead the establishment, update, and authority approval processes for Design Organisation Manuals, compliance checklists, and procedures across all DOA baselines.

  • Interface with Airworthiness Authorities: Act as the primary liaison with Airworthiness Authorities for DOA matters, including significant change approvals, privilege extensions, and influencing regulatory rulemaking.

  • DOA Process Ownership & Expertise: Own and deploy Design Assurance System processes related to airworthiness, environmental protection, and operational suitability, providing expert guidance to internal engineering teams and bidding processes.

  • DOA Supplier Oversight: Define DOA requirements for suppliers and coordinate the qualification phase for new programs alongside DOA Supplier Control Engineers.

  • Regulatory Cascading & Training: Lead the DOA School to promote training, manage the cascade of regulatory updates across the design organization, and govern signatory authority delegations.

  • Transfunctional Support: Drive cross-departmental DOA initiatives and support Airworthiness & Product Integrity CoC domains upon request.

  • Education: Completed Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in engineering and airworthiness functions.

  • Soft skills: Strong leadership and communication skills to work in a trans-functional, transnational, and networking environment.

  • Languages: Advanced / Negotiation level in English.

  • Technical knowledge: Proven experience in airworthiness regulations, Design Organisation Approvals (DOA), Design Assurance Systems, and direct interface with Aviation Authorities.

  • Valuable / Nice to have: Experience leading trans-national projects and knowledge of DOA supplier control or rulemaking committees.
