About Northwave

Defending the digital frontier is our mission.

At Northwave, 275 cybersecurity specialists transform how organisations approach digital safety. From our HQ in Utrecht, along with offices in Germany, Sweden, and Belgium.

Northwave combines ethical hacking expertise with behavioral psychology insights and cutting-edge security management at the highest level. We respond to threats and anticipate them, providing 24/7 managed security services and tailored solutions for each client's journey.

By joining Northwave, you'll become part of an organisation where innovation drives results, whether your talents lie in technical penetration testing or strategic client partnerships. Here, your expertise will grow and help shape the future of digital security across industries, leaving a lasting impact.

What you do

As a Business Security Consultant, you advise clients on the most suitable and cost-effective measures for security risks. You bridge the gap between security and the business of the organisation. In doing so, you make the client aware of their governance responsibility and provide insight into the current situation. You present your advice to the board of the organisation and lead to concrete decision-making and implementation of possible improvements. You are that strategic sparring partner to the client.

The projects you work on are diverse and relate to topics such as security management (ISO 27001), risk management, compliance with standards and frameworks (NIST, DNB Good Practice) or cyber security legislation (NIS2, DORA), and of course Northwave's total holistic approach to intelligent security operations. Your role can vary from conducting an assessment, managing and contributing to an implementation or an advisory role. Within these projects, we regularly collaborate with experts from other teams within Northwave.

In addition to your advisory function to organisations, you also ensure that the client acts on the given advice. You play a crucial role in identifying potential consultancy opportunities for Northwave. Always from an 'consultative selling mindset; where the added value for the client comes first. The clients you work with vary in size from medium-large to large international companies, in various sectors. They are mainly located in the Netherlands, but also some in Belgium, Germany or have various locations worldwide.

The team

As a Business Security Consultant, you are part of the Risk Advisory team. As a team, we always strive for a high-quality but pragmatic approach, where the advice is implemented in a workable solution. We avoid long and bureaucratic documentation and focus on achieving the best and most pragmatic result possible. The team consists of 15+ Business Security Consultants, each with their own expertise. In addition, we work closely with the other teams within Northwave and always strive for an integrated approach. We have a strong ambition in the Risk Advisory domain, also internationally. This requires growth in expertise, seniority and further professionalisation of the team.
